This is a beautiful example of a Navajo repoussé technique. Repoussé is when the metal (silver, in this case) is hammered or stamped from the back to create a raised design on the front. The details are often refined from the front afterward using chasing, which sharpens lines and adds definition without significantly raising the metal further. The conchos are enhanced with cabochons of turquoise. They measure 3.75 inches by 3 inches.
