Our Story
A Tradition of Trust and Craftsmanship Since 1872
In the heart of the American Southwest, where the vast desert meets endless skies, a legacy was born. Since 1872, the Tanner Family has been dedicated to preserving and celebrating the artistry of Native American cultures. Working hand-in-hand with skilled Navajo, Zuni, Hopi, and other Indigenous artisans, our family has brought their extraordinary jewelry, textiles, and artwork to collectors and admirers around the world.
Today, that proud tradition continues under C. Lynn Tanner, a fifth-generation Indian Trader, now welcoming visitors to our home in Ruidoso, New Mexico -a place where history, heritage, and craftsmanship live on.
At Tanner Tradition, every piece we offer -whether a handwoven Navajo rug, a piece of handcrafted silver jewelry, or a vibrant Southwestern painting- carries with it the spirit of the land and the soul of its maker. These are not just products; they are living stories, woven and sculpted by hands guided by generations of tradition.
We honor the timeless methods and the sacred meanings behind each creation. Our commitment is not only to quality but to authentic relationships with the artists and their communities -relationships built on respect, trust, and deep appreciation for cultural heritage.
Step into a world where the old ways are still alive, where each creation tells a story, and where tradition is not a memory, but a living, breathing art.
Welcome to Tanner Tradition -where the spirit of the Southwest finds its true home.
